Sorry 2021s race has been cancelled hopefully we will see you in 2022.
In the lower Medway valley, on both sides of the river, are a number of large sarsen stones which are collectively known as The Medway Megaliths. They were moved there between 2500-1700 BC and were part of Neolithic, chambered long barrows, which were ancient burial tombs. This area has an incredible history and people have moved around on these trails since the dawn of humankind. We will join those early dwellers and soak up that amazing history.
Both races start in the stunning Trosley country park and head east along the North Downs Way soon passing the site of the Coldrum long barrow. The trail continues through ancient woodland before the half marathon turns around near Cuxton and returns on the same route. The Marathon will continue on through the gorgeous Ranscombe country park and across Medway bridge. The route then completes a loop taking you to the top of Bluebell Hill in the vicinity of Kits Coty House, Little Kits Coty and the White Horse Stone. The runners will then turn round and re-join the North downs way completing the loop and returning the way they came back to Trosley.
Both routes take in a small amount of road but also some of the most beautiful trails the south east has to offer. Expect hills, gates, stiles and stunning scenery. These are relaxed low key trail races and as such both are slightly longer than the standard Half and full marathon distance.
Start time for Marathon: 9.30am ( advised 7hr cut off, Trosley Park shuts at 5pm)

We have received lots of questions regarding the stones. You are running through an area that has lots of examples of Megaliths. It is not practical nor respectful to these historic sites to have several hundred runners running right by them. They are in adjoining fields just a few hundred metres away. So you do not actually see the stones from where you are running. If you wish to visit the sites you could easily walk to them from the race hq should you wish to after the race. Or I’m happy to send anyone the location of the stones if you would like to visit on another occasion.
* Should the race HQ or checkpoints be cut off due to snow, the decision wouldn’t be taken lightly but the race could be cancelled at short notice and all entries deferred to the following year *
Please be aware there are no refunds and no runner to runner transfers. What we do offer is the option to transfer your entry to the following year or to a equally priced event. This offer is open upto 2 weeks prior to the event. Once this period has passed there are no options open to you.
